TRANSFORMATION THROUGH AWARENESS

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy
online only (in person in London soon)

WELCOME

Hello, I’m Angie

I’m a graduate of the Karuna Institute in Bristol and in the process of accrediting with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Like many people, I’ve had some difficult times in my life. With the help of a mindfulness-based core process psychotherapist I was able to bring about change and come to a place of deeper self-understanding, joy and ease.

Whatever personal struggle it is that brings you here now, it would be my privilege to support you on your journey.

Starting therapy takes courage and commitment so it is important that you find a therapist you feel able to connect with. Find out more about me and my approach below.

MINDFULNESS-BASED CORE PROCESS PSYCHOTHERAPY CAN HELP WITH MANY ISSUES

What brings you to therapy?

There are times in all of our lives when things feel difficult, overwhelming or beyond our control. It could be that you’re experiencing problems in your relationships, you’re going through a major life transition, you might have no sense of purpose or feel you’ve lost touch with who you really are. It’s at times like these when support from a therapist in a safe, non-judgemental space can help bring perspective and awareness, enabling you to access your innate ability to transform and heal.

I have experience of working with clients in many different areas, some of which include:

Relationship breakdown, loss of Self or identity

Understanding the dynamics of a relationship breakdown can reveal patterns of behaviour that are no longer working for you and help you create a healthier sense of Self, able to implement healthy boundaries.

Childhood trauma & abuse

The neglect, suffering or abuse inflicted by your caregivers as a child lives on in your body and can continue to impact you as an adult. Therapy provides a safe space to process what happened to you and begin the healing process.

Anxiety, depression, anger, grief, loneliness

Perhaps you feel nothing at all, just numbness, or everything makes you either angry or anxious. Maybe a voice in your head constantly tells you you’re a failure. Therapy is a space where all of your feelings are welcome.

I OFFER AN EMBODIED, RELATIONAL APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY

As a mindfulness-based core process therapist my work is underpinned by Buddhist principles of mindfulness, compassion and unconditional acceptance. I believe that at our core,
we are all inherently healthy, whole and wise.

Mindfulness-based

Mindfulness refers to awareness in the here and now and what is
happening in the body and mind as it arises without judgement. We might do a guided meditation together or focus on the breath. Thoughts, sensations, images and memories are a way in to explore how things that happened in the past are still affecting our reactions in the present.

Core-process Psychotherapy

Core Process Psychotherapy is a blend of Buddhist psychology and
psychodynamic psychotherapy. The relationship between therapist and client is crucial – as we are wounded by our early relationships so healing can occur in a therapeutic relationship. The Buddhist principle of compassion underpins the approach.

Online – short & long
term therapy

Psychotherapy is typically in-depth and long-term for as long as you need it. I also offer short term therapy – anything from a minimum of 6 weeks to a few months to work on a particular issue. All therapy is offered online on Zoom at present but I will be offering in-person therapy in London in the coming months.

How much does therapy cost?

My fee is £65 for a one hour session. We will meet on Zoom at the same time every
week.

How many sessions will I need?

Everybody is different. After six sessions we will review and see if you would like to
continue.

When are you available?

I have spaces for online therapy on Monday and Thursday lunchtime and evenings. More time slots available in January.

How do I get started?

If you feel you might be ready to begin work with a therapist it can be a good idea to book an initial session with more than one psychotherapist to ensure you find the right person for you.
Contact me via my Contact page and we can then arrange a quick 10 minute introductory phone call to help me understand what brings you to psychotherapy at this time in your life.
After that we’ll schedule a free initial 30 – 45 minute session together. This session provides an opportunity for me to ask you more about yourself and for you to get a sense of what it might be like working with me. If we both feel comfortable we can then proceed for a minimum of six sessions.
